Templestowe self-titled EP was released in 2007 and while this scored them key support slots and raised a few eyebrows they unfortunately remained under the radar to the Australian metal community at large. That is, until now.
Independent releases are generally missing a lot of key elements for success, “Cimmerian” however misses none. The album contains elements of thrash but at the same time also contains a dark progressive element that makes the album feel very intense. It is not until track 5 “Embers” that the listener has a moment of relief from the brutality and yet the dark feeling of the album only intensifies with this instrumental. Now, I know a lot of people are probably not to keen on the thought of an instrumental track let alone two in the one album (the title track “Cimmerian” is also an instrumental) but for some reason it just works.
The album “Cimmerian” seems more like one epic song rather than a collection of random tracks. It is one album that certainly needs to be played the whole way through to truly appreciate it.
“Cimmerian” is certainly going to take Templestowe out of the shadows and make them a major player in this country.
To celebrate the launch of this album Templestowe have a great deal for punters wanting to get their hands on this album. For just $30 you can get your hands on the album as well as a T-shirt, poster and the 2007 EP. This is for a very limited time so buy it now before it is too late:
